Invitatory

Invitatory

Lord, open my lips, *
and my mouth will proclaim Your praise.

Antiphon
Ant.

Come, let us adore the Christ, the beloved Son, in whom the Father is pleased.

Come, let us sing praise to the LORD. *
Shout with joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us enter His presence with a song of thanksgiving, *
    singing joyful songs to Him.

[ANT]

For the LORD is a great God, *
and the great king above all gods.
In His hand are the depths of the earth, *
and the mountain peaks are His also.
The sea is His for He made it, *
the dry land His hands formed.

[ANT]

Come, let us bow down and worship. *
LORDus kneel before the LORD our maker,
for He is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, *
and the flock of His hand.

[ANT]

Today, will you hear His voice?
"Do not harden your hearts, *
as at Meribah and during the temptation in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and provoked Me, *
although they were witness to My work."

[ANT]

"Forty years that generation disgusted me",
and I said, "They are a people whose hearts go astray, *
and they do not know my ways."
So I swore in my anger, *
"Never shall they enter into My rest."

[ANT]

Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.
Amen
Alleluia

Messiah, King, & Priest

UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

There came a voice * from heaven, and it was the Fathers voice. He was heard saying, "This is my Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him."

The LORD says to my master, *
    "Sit at my right hand,
and I will make your enemies *
into a footstool for your feet."

From Zion, the LORD will extend your mighty scepter's reach, saying, *
"Rule in the midst of your enemies."

On the day of your power, your people will follow you,
    in your holy splendor, *
"With the breaking of dawn, your youth comes to you like the dew."

The LORD swore an irrevocable oath, *
"You are a priest always, in the order of King Melchizedek."

On your right is my master, *
who will crush rulers on the day of his wrath.

He will drink from the brook along his way; *
therefore he will lift up his head.

Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,

Blessed are the Righteous
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

The Savior crushed * the head of the serpent at the river Jordan. So that all could be free from its power.

Blessed is the one who fears the LORD, *
who greatly delights in His commandments.
Their descendants will be mighty on the earth, *
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
In their houses are abundant riches, *
    and their righteousness endures forever.

In the darkness a light shines for the upright, *
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
A good person is gracious and lends,
they conduct their affairs justly, *
and they will never be shaken.

The righteous will be remembered forever, *
they will not fear evil news.
Their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD,
their hearts are strong, they won't be afraid, *
they will look with triumph over their foes.

He has distributed freely, and given to the poor;
    His justice endures forever, *
His horn will be exalted with honor.

The wicked will see and be furious,
they will gnash their teeth and melt away. *
The desire of the wicked leads to destruction.

Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,

Great and Marvelous
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon

Today a great mystery * was revealed: in the Jordan River, the Creator of all things took away our sins.

Great and marvelous are your works, *
    Lord God Almighty.
Your ways are righteous and true, *
    King of the Nations.

Lord, who will not fear you and bring glory to your name? *
    For holy are you alone.
Before you all nations will come and worship, *
for your righteous works have been revealed to all.

Reading

Acts of the Apostles 10:37-38

You yourselves know that which happened throughout Judea, starting in Galilee, after the baptism that John proclaimed. You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit, and with power. That he went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil. For God was with Him.

Brief Response

It is He who came by water and blood.
It is He who came * by water and blood.
Jesus Christ, our Lord.
It is He who came * by water and blood.
Glory to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
It is He who came * by water and blood.

My Soul Magnifies
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

Jesus Christ * loved us, by his blood he washed us of our sins. He made us a kingdom and priesthood for God our Father. To him be glory and power forever!

My soul magnifies the greatness of the Lord; *
my spirit bursts, rejoicing in God my Savior.
For He knew the humility of His servant. *
From today all generations will call me blessed.

The Almighty has done great things for me, *
    and holy is His name.

He has mercy for those who fear Him, *
    from generation to generation.
He has shown the strength of His arm, *
and scattered the proud for the thoughts of their hearts.

He has torn the mighty from their thrones, *
    and lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and sent the rich away empty.

He has given help to His servant Israel, *
and remembered His promise of mercy.
The promise made to our ancestors, *
to Abraham and His children forever.

Intercessory Prayers of Petition

To our Redeemer, who desired to be baptized by John in the Jordan river, let us pray:
Lord, send Your Spirit upon us.
Christ, servant of God, in whom the Father rejoices,
    – send Your Spirit upon us.
Lord, send Your Spirit upon us.
Christ, chosen of God, You did not break the crushed reed, nor extinguish the flickering flame,
    – have mercy on all who seek You in truth.
Lord, send Your Spirit upon us.
Christ, Son of God, the light to the nations and chosen by the Father to establish the new covenant,
    – open the eyes of the blind in the waters of baptism.
Lord, send Your Spirit upon us.
Christ, Savior of all, the Father consecrated You by the Holy Spirit to be our Savior,
    – lead all to You, to see and believe, that all may have eternal life.
Lord, send Your Spirit upon us.
Christ, our hope, who guides us from darkness into the light of salvation,
    – receive our siblings who have died into Your kingdom.
Lord, send Your Spirit upon us.

Lords Prayer

Our Father, who is in heaven,
    hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come,
    Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil;
for the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are Yours without end.
Amen

Concluding Prayer

Almighty and everlasting God, when Christ was baptized in the Jordan river, the Holy Spirit rested upon him, you solemnly proclaimed Him as your beloved Son. Grant to all your adopted children, who are likewise born of both the water and Spirit, * that you may always help keep us in your Holy will. Through Jesus Christ.

Blessing

May the Lord bless us,
    keep us from all evil,
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen
