Invitatory

Invitatory

Lord, open my lips, *
and my mouth will proclaim Your praise.

Antiphon
Ant.

Christ the Lord was tempted and suffered for us. Come, let us worship Him.

Come, let us sing praise to the LORD. *
Shout with joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us enter His presence with a song of thanksgiving, *
    singing joyful songs to Him.

[ANT]

For the LORD is a great God, *
and the great king above all gods.
In His hand are the depths of the earth, *
and the mountain peaks are His also.
The sea is His for He made it, *
the dry land His hands formed.

[ANT]

Come, let us bow down and worship. *
LORDus kneel before the LORD our maker,
for He is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, *
and the flock of His hand.

[ANT]

Today, will you hear His voice?
"Do not harden your hearts, *
as at Meribah and during the temptation in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and provoked Me, *
although they were witness to My work."

[ANT]

"Forty years that generation disgusted me",
and I said, "They are a people whose hearts go astray, *
and they do not know my ways."
So I swore in my anger, *
"Never shall they enter into My rest."

[ANT]

Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.
Amen

Messiah, King, & Priest

Antiphon

Lord, almighty King, deliver us for the glory of Your name, and give us repentance.

The LORD says to my master, *
    "Sit at my right hand,
and I will make your enemies *
into a footstool for your feet."

From Zion, the LORD will extend your mighty scepter's reach, saying, *
"Rule in the midst of your enemies."

On the day of your power, your people will follow you,
    in your holy splendor, *
"With the breaking of dawn, your youth comes to you like the dew."

The LORD swore an irrevocable oath, *
"You are a priest always, in the order of King Melchizedek."

On your right is my master, *
who will crush rulers on the day of his wrath.

He will drink from the brook along his way; *
therefore he will lift up his head.

Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.
Amen

Great Works of the Lord
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

I will offer You the sacrifice of thanksgiving; I will call on the name of the Lord.

I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, *
in the council of the upright and the assembly.
Great are the works of the Lord, *
sought out by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic is His work, *
    and His justice endures forever.

He has caused His wonders to be remembered; *
the LORD is gracious and compassionate.
He gives food to those who fear Him; *
    He remembers His covenant forever.

He has shown His people the power of His works
by giving them the inheritance of nations. *
The works of His hands are truth and justice.
All His precepts are trustworthy,
standing firm forever and ever, *
    made with uprightness and truth.
He has sent redemption to His people, *
    establishing His covenant forever.

Holy and awe-inspiring is His name. *
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.
All those who embody this have good understanding; *
    their praise endures forever.

Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.

The Voluntary Sacrifice of Christ - Servant of God
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

Truly He takes our suffering upon himself, and carries our sorrows.

To this you were called, *
    because Christ suffered for you,
leaving us an example to follow, *
that we should walk in his steps.

He who never sinned, *
nor tasted deceit in his mouth.
When they slandered him, *
he spoke not a vile word.
When he suffered, *
    he made no threats.

He gave himself into the hands *
    of the one who judges.
He took our sins upon himself, *
in his body upon the cross.

So that we might die to sin, *
    and live in righteousness.
It is by his wounds, *
    that we have been healed.

Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.

Reading

The First Epistle to the Corinthians 9:24-25

Do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run so that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a crown that will perish. We do it for a reward that is imperishable.

Brief Response

Listen, Lord, and have mercy, for we have sinned against You.
Listen, Lord, and have mercy, * for we have sinned against You.
Hear us, Christ, have mercy, and answer our prayers.
Listen, Lord, and have mercy, * for we have sinned against You.
Glory to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Listen, Lord, and have mercy, * for we have sinned against You.

Gospel Canticle

Luke 1:46-55

My Soul Magnifies
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

Jesus entered into the Temple of God, and He drove out all who were selling and buying. He flipped the tables of the money changers and dove sellers.

My soul magnifies the greatness of the Lord; *
my spirit bursts, rejoicing in God my Savior.
For He knew the humility of His servant. *
From today all generations will call me blessed.

The Almighty has done great things for me, *
    and holy is His name.

He has mercy for those who fear Him, *
    from generation to generation.
He has shown the strength of His arm, *
and scattered the proud for the thoughts of their hearts.

He has torn the mighty from their thrones, *
    and lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and sent the rich away empty.

He has given help to His servant Israel, *
and remembered His promise of mercy.
The promise made to our ancestors, *
to Abraham and His children forever.

Intercessory Prayers of Petition

Praise be to God our Father, he wanted, through his eternal word, to make his chosen people reborn from an incorruptible seed. Let us ask together in Faith.
Lord, show favor to your people.
Hear us, merciful God, the prayers which we offer in favor for all your people,
    – that we prefer the satisfaction of your word rather than bread.
Lord, show favor to your people.
Teach us, all who are inclined to love, to have an effective and genuine love for your creation and for all people without exception.
    – Building towards everlasting good will and peace.
Lord, show favor to your people.
Look at all those regenerated by baptism,
    – consecrate them to yourself, making them living stones in the temple of your Spirit.
Lord, show favor to your people.
That many, in the way of Jonahs preaching to the Ninevites, repent in their youth.
    – By your word, touch and convert their hearts.
Lord, show favor to your people.
Grant the dying to go with hope to meet Christ their judge,
    – and to enjoy your presence forever.
Lord, show favor to your people.

Lords Prayer

Our Father, who is in heaven,
    hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come,
    Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil;
for the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are Yours without end.
Amen

Concluding Prayer

God, you are the source of all good things, and all mercy comes from you. You told us how to heal from sin through fasting, praying, and sharing what we have with others. Hear our confessions of our weaknesses and shortcomings. * We are aware of our faults. Lift us up gently with Your Love in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Blessing

May the Lord bless us,
    keep us from all evil,
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen
